Case Study #2:
This is the basics of learning how to communicate in a new language (with the aid of an online translator like Google Translate). This document was intended for the average Doborog employee who might not have interacted with international folks before.
I developed these steps while first learning about Clone Drone’s Russian community! Russian players make up _% of our audience, and had historically caused a lot of issues—think interpersonal drama that went nuclear, large amounts of negative Russian reviews and comments, and a lot of teaming. (Frankly, this was because we didn’t understand them well enough. They are genuinely really lovely).
Disclaimer: English is my native language, so I will default to that below, but these guidelines aren’t exclusive to folks whose first language is English. I won’t go into how to improve your tone and cultural understanding right now, as that’s a more complicated topic that’ll take forever to write up here, but please ask me about it! I think it’s so hecking neat & I have thoughts!!
Why does this even matter??
